They are closer to the house, so they see more foot traffic, more furniture being dragged around, more dogs pressing against the lower panels, and more of the wind-driven debris that comes off the roofline. Repair or full rescreen?

The honest test is age. If the undamaged panels still look and feel sound — dark rather than grey, springy rather than brittle — repair the damaged ones and leave the rest alone. If the whole lanai has gone chalky and every panel tears when you press it, a full rescreen is better value than paying twice. What you want to avoid is a new bright panel surrounded by faded ones, which looks worse than the tear did.

Mesh options for lanais

Standard charcoal 18×14 fiberglass suits most screened porches. Lanais benefit from pet-resistant mesh on the bottom rows more often than pool cages do, simply because dogs spend more time there. Where the aluminum needs work it gets quoted as frame repair separately, because tensioning new mesh into a joint that has opened up will just pull it further apart.
